Job Overview:

Position Description: Associate Attorney position in highly regarded bankruptcy practice. Manage Chapter 7, 11 and 13 plans from inception through confirmation. Litigate debtor defense and FDCPA/FCRA cases, pre/post-foreclosure sales, including litigation, loss mitigation, probate, deceased debtor issues, reviewing title process, and conducting communications with clients, debtors, and attorneys. You will work closely with senior leaders in the Bankruptcy Group and will manage outside and co-counsel. Strong communication and negotiation skills are required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle bankruptcy cases from inception to resolution, including Chapter 7, Chapter 13 and Chapter 11 filings.
  • Conduct legal research and provide sound legal advice to clients.
  • Draft and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, first day motions, and other necessary documents.
  • Represent clients in court hearings and litigation proceedings.
  • Negotiate with creditors, trustees, and other parties involved in bankruptcy cases.
  • Develop and implement strategies to protect clients’ assets and interests.
  • Stay current with developments in bankruptcy law and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff to ensure seamless case management.

Job Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2-4 solid years of bankruptcy experience at a solo law firm practice and/or large corporate environment; more experience, the better
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Ability to meet requirements for federal court licensing
  • Active license to practice law in Arizona (preferred)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be PC literate and able to adapt to a variety of database systems rapidly
  • Analytical ability and strong attention to detail
  • Administrative and managerial skills
  • Courtroom experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

License/Certification:

  • Bar License and licensed in AZ (Preferred)

Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant

Job description:

Sacks Tierney is seeking a dynamic, full-time Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant with at least five years of law firm experience for its expanding litigation practice group. Experience in Construction Litigation, Arbitration, and Mediation is a plus.

Responsibilities and Skills:

  • This position supports two of the firm’s partners and two associates.
  • Managing client intake process, including new client/matter memos
  • Coordinating meetings and calls / general calendar management for multiple attorneys
  • Monitoring court and case deadlines
  • Corresponding with clients, counsel, and courts
  • Maintaining contact databases
  • Updating active case list and closing inactive matters
  • Preparing and formatting, correspondence, briefs, pleadings, motions, and shell discovery responses
  • Coordinating expense reporting
  • Assisting with the monthly billing process
  • Preparing for meetings, hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and mediations

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of litigation experience supporting multiple attorneys in a law firm setting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and appellate rules, American Arbitrators Association, and Commercial and Construction Rules is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro. Experience in iManage is a plus.
  • Electronically file documents with various courts (federal, state, and appellate courts) and American Arbitrations Association.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional formatting and proofreading skills
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical abilities
  • Must be highly organized
  • Ability to self-manage and plan ahead for deadlines
