Nancy M. Lashnits

Nancy Lashnits has worked on almost every type of municipal financing, from general obligation and revenue bonds to exempt facility and bonds for nonprofit organizations, as both a bond lawyer and a tax lawyer.

Nancy Lashnits began her municipal financing experience working for seven years in the Chief Counsel’s Office of the Internal Revenue Service. She has also served as an attorney adviser for the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C. She then went into private practice in the municipal finance area, working as a bond lawyer and tax lawyer for major national and regional law firms.

Nancy has represented state and local issuers, universities, conduit borrowers and nonprofit organizations; handled many tax controversy matters before the IRS; and represented nonprofit organizations for their general activities.

Nancy has served several times on the Steering Committee for the Bond Attorneys Workshop of the National Association of Bond Lawyers; chaired the Tax Exempt Financing Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation; and often spoken on many different tax aspects on panels for each of those organizations.

A graduate of Wheaton College Massachusetts and Golden Gate University School of Law, Nancy earned an LL.M. degree in Taxation at New York University School of Law.
